At 16 years old, Melanie Lynskey wowed audiences with her explosive portrayal of a teenage murderess in Peter Jackson's Academy Award-nominated Himmlische Kreaturen (1994), opposite Kate Winslet. Despite spending three years out of the limelight to attend university and re-locate from New Zealand to Los Angeles, Lynskey made a welcome return to the silver screen when she starred with Drew Barrymore and Anjelica Huston in the acclaimed Auf immer und ewig (1998), which was followed by roles in Detroit Rock City (1999), Weil ich ein Mädchen bin (1999), Coyote Ugly (2000), Snakeskin (2001), Sweet Home Alabama - Liebe auf Umwegen (2002), Abandon - Ein mörderisches Spiel (2002) and Lüge und Wahrheit - Shattered Glass (2003).
