Gina Hiraizumi was named one of the "Top 10 Asian American Stars to Watch" just last year. For those who are watching, she is living up to the promise.The Southern California native can be seen in the World War II period piece, Only the Brave (2006) as "Eleanor Takase". Gina plays the love interest of Jason Scott Lee (Dragon - Die Bruce Lee Story (1993)) and the film also stars veteran Japanese-American actors Pat Morita and Tamlyn Tomita.Gina has completed a leading role in the Larenz Tate film, The Hot Spot (2005) (V). In Tate's directorial debut, Gina was the only Asian actress chosen among a predominant African American cast. She ignites as "Venus" the urban Asian girl with street flavor and attitude.Gina is releasing her album under the guidance of Mark Brown (writer/producer of Barbershop - Ein haarscharfes Viertel (2002)) as Executive Producer. Often referred to as the "Japanese Janet Jackson," her music reflects her own style - a mixture of hip hop dance tracks and sensual R&B.Gina started her career studying with acting teacher, Aaron Speiser. After guest-starring on the short-lived MTV series "Spyder Games" (2001), Gina was tapped for the role of "Yasmina" on the NBC teen series "City Guys" (1997). Other television credits include a recurring role on the daytime soap "Port Charles" (1997) and guest-starring roles on the FX series "Lucky" (2003) starring John Corbett.Gina made the move to feature films when director Stephen Townsend wrote her into his film Kingston High (2002). Soon after, her breakout role as "Asia Lee" in the controversial indie film, Soap Girl (2002) caught the attention of major industry players. So much so, Academy Award winning director, Chris Tashima cast her as his leading actress in his short film, Day of Independence (2003).As a role model to Asian American youth, Gina contributes her time with children's' charity organizations. She is very passionate about the kids and hopes to one day open an Asian Youth Counseling Center in her hometown of Gardena, California.She lives in Los Angeles, California.
